SAAL Surfbag

The Modular Surf System Built for Before and After the Water

Product Design

About the project

SAAL develops surf lifestyle gear designed for surfers who move between ocean and everyday life. The challenge was to design a surf bag that simplifies the entire surf routine — from pre-session preparation to post-surf cleanup. The product needed to keep wet and dry gear organized while remaining durable, easy to transport, and functional in real surf environments such as parking lots, beaches, and travel. SAAL Surfbag integrates modular storage, a changing system, and rinse-ready materials to help surfers transition smoothly between the water and the rest of their day.

Surfers often change out of wetsuits in parking lots, standing barefoot on wet, sandy, or rough ground. Managing wet gear, sand, and personal items in these conditions is uncomfortable and messy. By observing the full surf routine — from arrival to post-session cleanup — we identified key friction points in the surfer’s journey. SAAL Surfbag was designed to address these moments, helping surfers change, organize gear, and transition from the ocean more easily.
