What if mammography were not so uncomfortable? Traditional mammography equipment is designed primarily around technical requirements rather than patient comfort. The exam typically requires the patient to stand in an uncomfortable position while the breast is compressed between cold mechanical plates, a process often perceived as stressful, painful, and emotionally intimidating. Fear and discomfort are significant barriers that discourage many women from regular screening. FemTech rethinks the mammography experience through a more human-centered approach, improving the physical and emotional experience of the exam to support patient compliance and early detection.
The patient lies comfortably on the examination bed in a prone position while the breasts are gently positioned into a soft silicone chamber integrated into the bed surface. A controlled vacuum system stabilizes the breast, automated compression plates adjust gradually to achieve optimal imaging conditions, and the scan runs automatically with minimal repositioning. Controlled pressure distribution reduces discomfort compared to traditional compression systems, and optional warming and gentle massage elements help relax tissue before imaging.
The result is a calmer, more human examination. Lying in a relaxed prone position on soft, ergonomic materials, the patient feels less exposed and more secure throughout the process. A warmer and more welcoming environment reduces anxiety during the exam, and improved comfort may lower resistance to regular screenings and encourage preventive care: the system transforms a stressful clinical procedure into a calmer and more controlled experience.
